Gabriel Cichero finds a job
December 16, 2008

Gabriel Cichero, released by RBNY after the season, has returned to the Venezuelan league, signing with Caracas. Cichero was originally signed on loan from Deportivo Italia. Metro had an option to buy... but mercifully passed.

Cichero started eight games for Metro, earning a red card in his second start against Toronto. While the ejection and the subsequent two-game suspension was hard, to say the least, he returned a different player. In the six game he started after the red card, Metro had a 1-5 record, allowing three goals a game. Cichero was taken off at halftime in the Colorado debacle, after being directly responsible for three goals. Two equally terrible matches versus Toronto and Chicago followed, earning him a permanent seat on the bench for the playoffs.
